Christmas 2008

We had a unbelievably BUSY Christmas but even through all the running around Savannah was a trooper.  We began Christmas Eve by making cookies for Santa.  Savannah loved helping.  We then went to Decatur to my aunt and uncle's to have Christmas with my mom's family.  Savannah got lots of new books which she loves.

Christmas morning was a blast.  Savannah woke to find that Santa had eaten almost all the cookies she left him and drank all his chocolate milk.  She decided to help Santa finish eating the cookies.  The first gift she saw from Santa was a roller coaster.  This was a hit!  Santa could have just brought that and nothing else because we had a really hard time prying her away from it. We spent the rest of the morning opening presents and playing with all of Savannah's new toys.  It was a fun morning!  Next year will definitely be fun and interesting with a 3 year old and a 7 month old.

Christmas night we went to my brother's house to eat dinner and open gifts with he and his girlfriend and my mom.  And of course, Savannah got more toys.  She was so excited.  Elmo Live was the big thing but she is still not real sure about him.

Lastly, we spent Friday with Brian's dad and some of his cousins and Saturday with my dad.  And yes, she got MORE toys!  Where are we supposed to put all this stuff.?

All in all, we had a good Christmas spending time with family and friends.  We are truly blessed and above all thankful for the reason for the season.  Happy Birthday, Jesus!  We love You!

Savannah with Santa & Our Matching PJ's

So, we decided Friday night to take Savannah to see Santa Claus.  We opted out last year in fear that she would freak out.  I was concerned this year as well but Brian said we should at least give it a try.  We asked her before we left the house if she wanted to go see Santa and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.  She said yes and throughout dinner kept saying she was ready to go and see Santa and Merry Christmas.  Luckily, when we got to the mall there wasn't a long line but it was too long for Savannah.  She kept proclaiming, "It's my turn".  When it was finally our turn she bolted towards Santa, arms open wide, climbed into his lap and began talking to him like she had known him forever.  Santa actually had to motion for Brian and I to come closer because he couldn't understand what she was saying.  It was so cute and I was shocked that she did so well.  She is always surprising me.Savannah With Santa

My Mom and our friend Dee Dee started a tradition several years ago of buying identical Christmas pajamas every year.  We all wear them on Christmas Eve.  Of course when Savannah came along she had to be included.  It wasn't until this year however that she realized that we looked alike and thinks it is just too cool.  Thought I would share a picture.

Halloween 2008

Well, I missed Halloween with Savannah this year to go to the AU/Ole Miss game.  I hated not being able to be her with her especially since the game turned out like it did.  Live and learn I guess.  Anyway, she had a blast with her Daddy at our church's annual trunk or treat.  She was Tinkerbell this year and she was so cute!  Brian said before the night was over he finally had her saying trick or treat to people.  They got home and proceeded to eat candy all weekend since Mommy was out of town.

Savannah's 2nd Birthday Party and Zoo Trip

Savannah's 2nd Birthday Party at Chik-Fil-A (28) We had Savannah's 2nd birthday party at Chick Fil A.  We invited some of our friends and family.  She had a blast!  I was a little worried because she is normally scared of new things but she climbed all around the play area and slid down the big slide numerous times.  Ok a few times her Daddy had to climb in a give her a little push.  The next day we took her to the Birmingham Zoo.  She loved seeing all the animals.  She even let a flamingo eat out of her hand.

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY SAVANNAH!

Two years ago on October 8, 2006 at 10:12pm, God blessed us with a healthy, beautiful daughter Savannah Grace.  When people ask us can we remember what we did before her we can honestly say no.  Our lives are so much more fulfilling with her in them.  We can't believe she is already 2 years old.  Time goes by so quickly!  Brian took the day off and we just spent the day with her.  We let her open her presents and eat ice cream and cupcakes.  She seemed to have a really good day.  We promised her a trip to the zoo but due to the rain that has been postponed until Sunday.  Here are a few pictures from her birthday with Mommy and Daddy.  Her party is Saturday so I will post pictures from it and the zoo later.

Favorite Meal of the Day

This is Savannah's favorite meal of the day.  Actually, it is the only meal of the day we can be sure she will eat, fruit and cream oatmeal.  She loves it and gets up every morning asking for her oatmeal.  She will have the best cholesterol of any of us!

Our Trip to the Aquarium

Savannah checking out the stingrays Last week for Brian's birthday we went to the aquarium in Chattanooga.  This of course was Savannah's first trip to the aquarium and she seemed to love it.  She laughed at the penguins and kept talking about all the fish and the sharks.  We were able to give her a little freedom to just run around and see all the fish, which she did a lot faster than her Daddy wanted to but it was a great time for all of us.

Aren't We Bad!

Savannah Watching Dora on Laptop on Couch (1) So this was the scene Saturday night while the Alabama/Clemson game was on t.v.  Savannah wanted to watch Dora and Diego and Brian and I wanted to watch the game.  Brian thought about letting her watch t.v in our room but realized there was NO WAY she was staying in there while we were in the living room.  Brian decided the only compromise would be to put her Dora DVD in the laptop and let her watch it in the living room with us while we watched football.  Poor baby, Mommy and Daddy are so mean and wouldn't let her watch what she wanted to watch on t.v.  As you can see she was perfectly content with this.  She got what she wanted and we got what we wanted.  Why didn't I think of this a long time ago when I was wanting to watch the Today Show or the View in the mornings!

A Day at the Park

Savannah & Mimi on the train This past Saturday, Savannah and I met my Mom in Tuscumbia and went to a great little park, Spring Park.  They have a train, carousel, kiddie coaster, playground, splash pad and lots and lots of geese.  I think Savannah had a really good time.  Riding the train was her favorite!  It rained on us so we didn't get to stay that long but I hope to take Savannah back there soon.  It is a great place to take a picnic lunch and spend the day.  Here are a few pictures from our fun day.

Even though it doesn't look like it here she wasn't a big fan of the carousel and neither was Mommy & Mimi! Yuck!

Meet My Mini-Me

Savannah & Mommy For those of you who have seen Austin Powers, you know what a mini-me is.  My daughter is my mini-me.  Yes, she looks more like her daddy but she is my shadow.  She follows me everywhere I go.  She doesn't want to be in a room that I am not in with her.  Today, I was attempting to clean house and she had to follow me everywhere saying, "Mommy, what you doin?".  I would tell her that I was dusting and not 2 minutes would go by and she would ask again.  If I ever leave the room without her knowing as soon as she realizes I am gone she proceeds to walk through the house saying, "Mommy, where are you?" until she finds me and then the cycle begins again, "Mommy, what you doin?"  I admit this is too cute and too sweet.  I love that she is so attached to me and just hope that as she gets older we maintain this bond that we share.

Fun in the Backyard

Just a few pictures of Savannah in the backyard playing.  She is normally so scared of everything but she gained some courage on Friday and began climbing up the side of her slide.  She also loves playing with our 100lb golden retriever, Jackson!Savannah climbing on her slide

Chocolate is soooo good!

Yummy! We went to Jason's Deli today with my mom, brother and his girlfriend.  Anyone that knows Savannah knows she is not the best eater(even though this does not appear to be the case).  However, we discovered today that she LOVES chocolate mousse, so nutritious I know!  She had to feed herself, of course, with a fork no doubt so we had mousse everywhere.  She was happy to cheese for the camera with chocolate all around her mouth.  She is a ham like her daddy!

Welcome to the World of Blogging

Family Beach Trip 2008I decided to start this blog partly due to peer pressure(ha ha) but mostly to try and journal mine and Brian's life with our wonderful daughter.  She is always surprising us with what she knows and what she can do.  She definitely keeps us laughing.  Hopefully this will also keep family and friends up to date on what is going on in our lives.  This picture is from Savannah's first trip to the beach.  She loved the water but wasn't so sure about the sand!  More to come soon.  Enjoy!
